When it comes to Durham Aged Mineworkers’ Homes Association, Diane Carney agrees that good things come in small packages.
It’s what encouraged the Sunderland born housing professional to join the DAMHA Board.
She explains: “One of the things I like the most about DAMHA is that it is still small enough to care passionately and has always retained personal contact with its residents.
“This is important because it enables the Association to deliver excellent services tailored to individual needs.”
Diane knows what she is talking about when it comes to social housing as she has spent 25 years working in the sector in the North-East.
Formerly an Executive Director of Property at Gentoo Housing Group, she is now an independent management consultant advising organisations in the sector.
Diane says she is enjoying being on the Board at DAMHA, which is her first non-executive role.
“There is an excellent balance of skills on the Board, and I am very much looking forward to playing my own part in the continued success of the Association.
“Housing associations like DAMHA have a huge, positive impact on people’s lives, and our role is not something to take lightly.”
In her spare time, married mum-of-one Diane enjoys spending time with her family, as well as reading, sewing, and swimming.
