Mary and Dave Rowell

Mary and Dave Rowell say moving into their DAMHA home is “the best thing we have ever done.”

The couple moved from a house in Sacriston they were renting from another social housing provider but which they say was not up to standard.

They say: “We had to tape the curtains to the wall to prevent the draft from the windows getting in and there was mould on the wall, so it wasn’t doing our health any good.

“We went on DAMHA’s waiting list and were hoping for a home in Pelton as we had lived their previously and our daughter has a new home in the area too.

“When we discovered there was a home available in Glenview Close, we put our bid in at midnight because we were so eager, and when we discovered our application had been successful, we were delighted.”

Mary, 74, and Dave, 64, haven’t wasted any time making their two-bedroom bungalow their own. This has included fitting new carpets and a fire/surround.

They say: “Moving here is easily the the best thing we have ever done and we couldn’t be happier in our home.”
