Lawrence and Norma Bacon

Lawrence and Norma Bacon are already putting their stamp on their seafront DAMHA home they moved into recently.

The couple are now living in one of our aged miners’ homes in North Road, Seaham.

They sold their family home, also in Seaham, last year after problems with his blood pressure and dizziness made it difficult for Lawrence to get up and down the stairs.

They say that moving into their new two-bedroom bungalow has therefore been a godsend, and despite only being in the property since November 2017, they have already been very busy.

Lawrence, 78, and Norma, 75, say: “We received permission from DAMHA to install a new kitchen and bathroom so we already feel like we are putting our own stamp on the home.

“Our bedroom and living room face out onto the seafront, which is pretty special and despite moving in winter, the house is always lovely and warm.

“We are now looking forward to the spring and summer so we can get out into the garden and take advantage of being so close to the sea.

“We can’t fault DAMHA at all. They have been very nice and agreed to everything we have asked for.

“We’re over the moon.”
