New manager appointed

Deborah Wild is the new manager of the Langley House Care Centre in Sunderland Road.
The mother-of-four, who lives in Horden, was formerly deputy manager but has now been promoted to the top role at the 26-bedroom home.
Deborah, aged 45, has worked at Langley House since it opened in 1991 and has been tasked with making the home the first choice for people looking for care in Horden and the surrounding areas.
She said:”I am delighted to be managing a home in the town where I live and which has its heart very much in the local community.
“I am supported by a great and highly trained staff team that also live locally so we are all committed to ensuring Langley is the best run home in the region.
“Everyone who comes to Langley is treated as an individual and we are very much about choice, whether that is choosing how your bedroom is decorated through to what meals you would like.
“We work hard to provide activities that our residents will enjoy and help keep them as active as possible, so we have a varied programme that includes bingo, arts and crafts, aromatherapy and music nights.
“Because we are right in the middle of Horden we have always had tremendous support from the local community but we are looking to take this even further in 2014 by hosting more events for local people.”
Langley House, which is owned by Durham Aged Mineworkers’ Homes Association (DAMHA), provides a range of care services for people, including general care, nursing care, respite care and day care.
