Durham Aged Mineworkers’ Homes Association provides two sheltered housing schemes for older people – Rutherford House in Easington and Bulmer House in South Shields.
These schemes consist of self-contained apartments with communal facilities such as a shared lounge, laundry and garden.
They are ideal for for people who still would like to live as an independent life as possible. Assistance is provided by onsite concierge officers, who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the schemes, such as organising activities and events.
