A woman who started working as a cleaner at a South Shields sheltered housing scheme has now been appointed as its Concierge.
Hayley Patterson has taken the permanent role at Bulmer House, following a successful spell as Acting Concierge.
The 31-year-old is responsible for looking after the welfare of residents who live at Bulmer House, as well as ensuring the building is maintained to the correct standard.
After starting at Bulmer House as a party-time cleaner over ten years ago, it’s a place she knows very well.
Hayley, who lives in South Shields, says: “Being here for so long has given me a great insight into the scheme and the residents who live here, so I am proud and delighted to have become Concierge.
“Every day is different; one minute I can be on the phone arranging a repair and the next I can be helping a resident with a personal issue.”
Pauline York, DAMHA’s Operations Director, said: “Hayley made a big impression on everyone when she was Acting Concierge, so she fully deserved for her role to be made permanent.
“The fact she was already someone the residents knew well was a factor in her appointment, but just as important was her hard work and enthusiasm.”
