We were pleased to be able to continue the tradition of presenting end of year vouchers to 143 of our residents aged 90 and over.
Each year, we present £25 gift vouchers to all the nonagenarians who live in our homes.
We contribute £10 to the vouchers and the rest is provided by The Almshouse Association, the support charity representing over 1,600 almshouses in the UK. DAMHA is the largest almshouse in the UK.
In total, this means £3,575 worth of vouchers were handed out at the end of 2024.
Among those receiving a voucher was 90-year-old John Luke, from Hetton-le-Hole, who said: “I turned 90 in May this year so this is the first time I have received a voucher, which is a nice gesture.”
Paul Mullis, Chief Executive of DAMHA, said: “We are delighted to have been able to continue this tradition, with the fantastic support from The Almshouse Association, and we hope everyone who got a voucher enjoyed spending them.”
