PAYING BY DIRECT DEBIT
Direct Debit is Durham Aged Mineworkers' Homes Association preferred method of payment.
The Association provides a facility for residents to pay their charges direct from their bank account. This method involves a payment being made once each calendar month or twelve times a year by Direct Debit.
Direct Debit Incentive
If you set up a direct debit with us we will send you a £10 gift voucher as a reward for choosing our preferred payment method. The voucher can be used at Woolworths, B&Q and Comet.
The Easy Way to Pay
Paying by Direct Debit requires you to complete just one form and we will take care of the rest, forever. There is no need to issue a new mandate each year and any amendments to the payment required are made automatically through your current account.
Why Pay by Direct Debit?
- You don't need to write cheques, travel or stand in queues in order to make your payment each week.
- You don't have to remember to make your payments because your Bank or Building society will do all the work for you.
- You remain in total control of your money because you can cancel your Direct Debit at any time.
- If there is any change to your payment you are always given at least ten working days notice of the new amount to be debited from your account. This gives you plenty of time to query the amount or cancel your instruction if you wish.
The Direct Debit Guarantee
All payments made by Direct Debit are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. Details of the protection this offers are included on the direct debit mandate form.
What Sort of Account Do I Need to Use Direct Debit?
Most Bank, Building Society or Post Office current accounts can be used to pay by Direct Debit.
What if I Receive Housing Benefit?
If you are in receipt of full Housing Benefit which is paid direct to the Association, you can use the Direct Debit system to pay your water rates and contents insurance charges to us on a monthly basis.
If you are not on full Housing Benefit you will only be able to pay monthly if you receive Benefit direct to yourself and wish to use Direct Debits in order to pay us the full charge each month.
What Do I Do Next?
If you wish to pay by Direct Debit you will need to complete and sign one of our Direct Debit mandates and return it to us. We will then enter your details onto our system and our collection agents Allpay.net will send you a letter with details of exact amounts and dates of payments to be taken before the first payment is made.
You can get a Direct Debit mandate by contacting a member of our Customer Service Team on Freephone 08000 432642.
PAYING BY PAYMENT CARD
Residents can use their Payment Card if they wish to pay their account weekly.
The payment card has no monetary value, it simply tells us who you are so we can credit your account accurately.
The payment card can be used at any Post Office, Paypoint or Payzone outlet. Paypoints and Payzones can be found in certain supermarkets, newsagents and Petrol Stations. Further details of these locations can be obtained from our Customer Service Team.
How to Use The Card?
There is no charge for using the Payment Card. You simply hand your card along with your payment to the cashier and tell them how much you wish to pay. Each time you make a payment you will get a receipt so that you have a record of your payment. Your account will normally be credited with the payment within 5 working days.
You can still use the same card even if the amount you pay changes.
What if I Lose or Damage My Card?
If your card gets lost or damaged let us know immediately and we will arrange for a new card to be sent to you as soon as possible. Don't delay as arrears may start to build up on your account.
Replacements will normally be free of charge, however the Association reserves the right to recharge for replacing cards that are frequently lost or damaged.
