Gordon Parkin, DAMHA President | Norman Hardy, DAMHA Vice President.
Executive committee appoints new President and Vice President
The Executive Committee in November elected Gordon Parkin as President and Norman Hardy as Vice President.
Gordon, who lives in Easington and was a miner at Easington Colliery for 30 years has served on the Association’s Committee for 29 years and has been Vice President since 2001. He was local Secretary for Easington Aged Miners Homes Committee for 26 years.
Norman, who lives in Murton has been on the Committee for 17 years. He started his working life at Murton Colliery as an electrician and worked his way through the ranks to become Assistant Electrical Engineer. He was also Chairman of the Northumberland and Durham branch of COSA the Colliery Official and Staff Association.
Gordon Parkin said “I am very proud to have been elected President of an organisation which has so much history and is so highly regarded.
Bob Olaman presided over one of the most successful periods, and I hope that I can follow on where Bob left off and move the Association from strength to strength”.
