Winifred unearths her roots
Winifred Pallister of Leech Court, Easington was adopted at the age of five and recently she has finally found her brothers and sisters after 62 years. Sadly her birth mother and father had both died but her family had also been searching for her.
Mrs Pallister who is not in good health was amazed to discover that her mother had given birth to 16 children. Some of the children had died young but Winifred and husband Alan were determined to track down her remaining siblings.
Winifred’s husband Alan said, “There were 16 in all. There were twin girls and another girl died before she was one year of age. We are now in touch with three of Winifred’s sisters. Two live nearby in Shildon and visit regularly. The other one lives in Leeds. That leaves five more to trace. There were four brothers. We are in contact with two of them and they come to see Winifred regularly. One died some years ago, and we are still trying to trace and the other one.
It does seem a bit complicated but there is so many of them and does get confusing at times”.
