Cyril Smith, your Disability Equality Champion
Cyril Smith was appointed as Disability Equality Champion at the meeting of DAMHA’s Executive held on 27th March 2008. As Champion, Cyril will be responsible for the promotion of disability equality matters for the Association.
In January of this year, eight members of our Focus Group helped draw up our latest Disability Equality Action Plan. This links to the latest revision of the Disability Discrimination Act 2005, which aims to:
- Promote equality of opportunity between disabled people and other people
- Eliminate disability discrimination
- Eliminate disability harassment
- Promote positive attitudes towards disabled people
- Encourage participation by disabled persons in public life
- Take steps to meet disabled persons’ needs
- even if this requires favourable treatment
To enable us to tailor our service to our customers’ needs, we will be collecting data on your circumstances and disabilities on a regular basis. When you receive a questionnaire from us, please complete and return it, as this will help us to help you.
