66 New Homes
The Housing Corporation, the Government’s agency for investing in new homes, has announced it’s grant allocations to housing associations for 2008/09. In November 2007, the association submitted a bid for grant to build 66 new homes, and for the first time in many years, we have had total success in that we have been given the grant to build all 66.
The following new developments will be built:
Easington Colliery - 12 two bedroom bungalows for rent on the site behind Leech Court
Ushaw Moor - Valley View - 16 two bedroom bungalows, 5 two bed, 5 three bed and 2 four bed family houses - all for rent
Sherburn Village - The 12 one bedroom George Parkinson Memorial Homes in the centre of the village will be replaced with 12 two bedroom bungalows for rent.
Coxhoe - At Landsdowne Road, 4 two-bedroom bungalows will be built for shared ownership.
Pelton Fell - The final phase of 10 two bedroom bungalows for rent will complete our development of 38 bungalows as part of this major regeneration scheme
Gordon Gray, Chief Executive said "I am delighted with this allocation, and the fact that the Housing Corporation have continued faith in our ability to deliver the much needed new homes for the people of County Durham. I am particularly grateful to the District Council’s of Durham, Easington and Chester-le-Street, without who’s support, these new build projects would not be possible".
