Registered Trader Scheme
Don’t get caught out by rogue traders

If you are planning to carry out any alterations to your home, don’t forget that you must apply to the Association for permission before any work can be started. Then, if this permission is granted, you will need to contact a suitable trader to carry out the work for you.

As we all know, it can be really difficult to find a reliable trader so it’s worth consulting the Registered Trader Scheme that operates within County Durham to help take some of the stress out of the process.

Although The Registered Trader Scheme cannot guarantee the work of the trader who is on their list, they only list traders who have been through a stringent vetting process and can demonstrate a commitment to honest and fair-trading and, have signed up to their Terms and Conditions or Code of Practice. The scheme can give you peace of mind knowing that the trader has satisfied the schemes membership criteria and checks carried out by County Durham Council Trading Standards Service.

Details of members of the scheme can be obtained from any of the partners listed below or, online at www.codurhamrts.org.uk.
