The 2007 DAMHA Pot Plant Competition - call for entries

Are you a budding Alan Titchmarsh? Do you have a passion for bedding plants? Or do you just like to potter around outside? You can share the fruits of your gardening efforts and inspire others by entering the 2007 DAMHA Pot Plant Competition.

Entrants are being asked to send in photographs of their late spring and early summer displays to reach the office by the closing date of July 2nd. But as the shortlist will be selected from the pictures sent in, the photographs must be current.

Anyone who would like to enter and doesn’t have a camera can contact the office and staff will supply a disposable camera for the occasion.

A first prize of £50 worth of gardening vouchers is on offer for the winning display with two runners-up prizes of £10 each. Again, everyone who enters will receive a certificate to acknowledge their efforts.

Judges will select a shortlist of gardens to visit from the photographs sent in, and then award prizes to the top three. Effort will be rewarded and the age and mobility of the gardener will also be taken into account.

The competition is open to all residents.

“The competition encourages residents to take a pride in where they live and turn bricks and mortar into attractive homes. We call it a pot plant competition, so it doesn’t matter if residents don’t have gardens as such. Many people achieve eye-catching displays from hanging baskets, window boxes and containers.”
