The Bonniest Bonnets in Sacriston & Nettlesworth
There was a cracking party at the Sacriston Workingmen’s Club on Monday April 2nd when the Sacriston & Nettlesworth Residents’ Association held their Easter Bonnet Competition. It was a fun filled afternoon with music and dancing, pie and peas plus bingo and a raffle.
It was also an afternoon of highlights. One was the competition itself to find the beat Easter bonnet in the neighbourhood. Judge John Humble said “The bonnets were extraordinary everyone had made such an effort”.
The other highlight of the afternoon was the presentation to Mabel Haswell, the guest of honour who celebrated her 100th birthday on 27th of March, 2007.
