New standards published
The Tenant Services Authority have published their new standards for all social housing landlords
The six national standards, which are designed to cover all aspects of the housing service are: -
- Tenant Involvement and Empowerment, including customer service, choice and complaints, and understanding and responding to diverse needs
- Home, including repairs and maintenance and quality of accommodation
- Tenancy, including allocations, rent and tenure
- Neighbourhood and Community, including neighbourhood management, local area co-operation and anti-social behaviour
- Value for Money
- Governance and Financial Viability
All of these standards referred to are very basic and it is up to us as an organisation to set our own ‘local’ standards’, known as a ‘local offer’. To set our own level of standards we must first agree these with our residents and trustees.
A meeting has been arranged for Thursday 17th June 2010 at 10am, to be held at Chester-le-Street Cricket Club to discuss and agree these local standards.
If you are interested in coming along to take part in setting these standards, then please contact our Customer Service team on 08000432642 to book your place. The meeting is expected to last until 12.30 when a buffet lunch will be served. We will reimburse your travel costs to and from the meeting.
Interested in being a scrutiny panel member?
DAMHA is considering setting up a Scrutiny Panel made up of residents to monitor our performance against these standards. We will be looking for people who are able to come along to 6 meetings per year. If you are interested in becoming a Scrutiny Panel Member and would like more information then please call Pauline York, Head of Housing, for an informal chat on 08000432642. Previous experience is not essential as support and training will be provided for all panel members.
