Snow Clearing
The snowfalls of late December and early January have been the heaviest for 30 years, with many major transport routes and schools closed as a result.
The Association has received many requests from residents to have snow cleared from paths and yards, but unfortunately we just do not have the resources – either human or financial, to do it. We have 1600 homes in 120 different locations across County Durham and Tyne and Wear and, considering the average hourly charge for a contractor is around £24.00, the association’s annual maintenance budget would soon be wiped out if we tried to operate a snow clearing service.
At times like this, we look for good neighbourliness and ask for residents to look out for each other, with things such as shopping or simply looking in on less able neighbours.
