Pittington Group Win Beautiful Durham Prize
Residents at Elizabeth Court in High Pittington have won the prestigious Beautiful Durham Award. The residents from all eight bungalows worked together on the prize winning hanging baskets for which they won a merit award for the best sheltered accommodation in Durham. Resident Eddie McKewan (78), said, “we all muck in on the gardening and winning a prize is a bonus”.
The group are no strangers to gardening prizes, they have won the award before, in 2007, and they will receive £40 worth of vouchers from the nearby Shincliffe Garden Centre to spend on new plants for 2010.
