Langley House is 20!

Langley House Residential Home in Horden celebrated its 20th birthday on Wednesday 19 August with a party for residents, staff, friends and families.

Gordon Gray, DAMHA’s Chief Executive said, “The late 1980’s were a particularly busy period for us when the Association created a number of new retirement homes in the region and embarked on new ventures by going into residential care and Sheltered Schemes as well as the traditional bungalows”. He went on to say, “We are really proud of Langley House, it was our first purpose-built residential home and the high standards of care are always reflected in the levels of satisfaction we receive from residents, their families and the social care inspectorate”.

Originally designed to care for 30 residents Langley House has, over the years, been updated to care for 27 full-time residents as well as a number of day-visitors. Joy Atkinson, Head of Home said, “Langley House is a local residential home for local people who are cared for by local people and that’s why it occupies a very special place within the local community”.

Over 60 people attended the special birthday party, including new resident Tilly Hutton, (96) on her first day at her new home. Joy Atkinson said, “We are especially grateful to the catering, housekeeping and caring teams who put in a tremendous effort to make this a very special day for our residents, friends and supporters”.
