Our Go For It Features:County Durham Handy-person Service
Do you need somebody to do small jobs in your home? If the answer is yes, then you may be pleased to know that if you live in County Durham and are over 60, disabled, a victim of crime, at high risk of falling or vulnerable in other ways there is a handy-person service provided by Durham County Council.
Examples of handy-person jobs:
- Replace light bulbs and cords
- Trim and fix loose carpets
- Move pieces of furniture
- Put up shelves
- Fit telephone extension leads
A charge of £10 per visit (including VAT) is made to cover labour costs. This charge will not be made on jobs taking 30 minutes or less and all labour charges are waived for people who are in receipt of a means tested benefit.
