Go for it!

Is your DAMHA account in arrears?

Are you in financial difficulties?
Don’t hide your head in the sand hoping that the problem will go away – it won’t!

The majority of our residents pay their maintenence contribution charge without fail - many even keep their accounts in credit. However, there are a small number who have built up significant arrears. Arrears is a serious issue and as an organisation we have a duty to our residents to pursue this minority, even if this means taking cases to court to repossess their homes.

It is your responsibility to pay your weekly maintenance charge, including any associated charges, and keep your account up to date.

At DAMHA, we understand that there are many reasons why people fall behind with their payments. If this happens to you then contact us to discuss the problems you are having. If you cannot afford to clear the arrears in one payment then, in most cases, we can make an arrangement for you to pay something extra each week or each month until your account is clear. We can also refer you to other agencies to make sure that you are receiving all the benefits that you are entitled to.

What will DAMHA do if I do not clear my arrears?
If you do not clear your arrears, it could result in you losing your home. We will only pursue repossession of your home as the last course of action.

Do's and Don'ts!

  • don't ignore your arrears.
  • don't ignore letters from DAMHA.
  • do what the letters ask you.
  • do contact us if you have problems.
  • do seek independent financial advice from you local Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

NOT PAYING YOUR WEEKLY MAINTENANCE CHARGE CAN LEAD TO YOU LOSING YOUR HOME.
