The first five celebrations of this period belong to Mrs Sarah Whitelock of Horden on the 10th January followed on the 11th January by Mr Bertie Smith of Easington, and Mr John Stewart of Chilton on the 18th. The final two of this month belong to Mrs Ellen Nicholson of Easington on January 20th followed by Mrs Evelyn Lee of Hetton on the 27th.

March brought a further two birthdays. Mr John Appleby of Horden on the 5th followed by Mr Edward Johnson of Ryton on the 18th.
April brought a further two birthdays. Mrs Ellen Robinson of Horden was the first on the 18th followed by Mr Dennis Whalen of Murton on the 24th.

The final two birthdays of this edition were celebrated by Mrs Hannah Kelly of Pelton on May 10th and Mrs Elizabeth Price of Horden on the 20th.

No fewer than twelve residents have celebrated their 90th birthday since the last edition of The Banner.


The first three celebrations of this edition belong to Mrs Norah Adamson of South Shields on the 6th September followed on 9th September by Mrs Mary Place of Murton and Mrs Hannah Hunt of Easington on the 29th.

October brought the next three birthdays. Mrs Jane Laverick of Silksworth on the 4th followed by Mr George Smith of Murton on the 21st.

The last October birthday was celebrated by Mrs Edna McKinnell of Esh Winning on the 30th.

November brought a further two birthdays. Mrs Frances McMackin of Crookhill on the 14th followed by Mr Joseph Scullion of Kibblesworth on the 18th.
December brought the final four birthdays of this edition. Mrs Beatrice Trotter of Leadgate was the first on the 5th followed by Mrs Marjorie Marshall of Easington on the 9th. The final two birthdays of the year were celebrated by Mrs Elizabeth Dawe of Horden and Mrs Alma McAree of Easington who both share December 25th.

The fifth July celebration was on 25th for Mrs Mary Richardson of Horden.
The final birthday of this edition belongs to Mrs Mary Maddison of Shiney Row on 1st August.

The first celebration of this edition belonged to Mrs Proud of Windy Nook on 15th February.
March brought the next, Mrs Beatrice Melvin of Langley Park on 14th, followed by the final four birthdays in April.
Mrs Agnes Banks of Southwick was the first April birthday on 2nd with Mrs Elizabeth Rose of Hetton le Hole on the 9th and Mrs Greta Halpin on the 15th. The final birthday of this edition belongs to Mrs Mary Wilson of Pittington on the 26th April.

Mrs Mary Jane Cooper of Hetton-le-Hole was the first November birthday on 21st closely followed by Mrs Winnie Reed of Middlestone Moor on the 23rd November. Mrs Wilhelmina Carrington was the final birthday of this edition on the 30th.

No fewer than Six residents have celebrated their 90th birthday since the last edition of The Banner.
The first celebration of this edition belonged to Mr Ronald Stubbs of Windlestone on 27th April.

29th June was the birthday of Mrs Lilo Davis of St Helens.August brought the remaining four birthdays of this edition. 15th August was the first celebration this month belonging to Mrs Geraldine Kirkbride of Easington, followed by Miss Doreen Richardson of Gilesgate on the 20th, and Mrs Elizabeth Bowes of Wheatley Hill on the 25th, with the final August birthday belonging to Mr John Price of Horden on the 29th.

Eleven residents have celebrated their 90th Birthday since the least edition of The Banner.

August brought two birthdays, the first being Mrs Thomasina McCluskey of South Shields on August 17th followed by Mrs Ethel Millward of Horden on August 28th.

Along came September with a further two with Mr Thomas Raine of Chester-le-Street on the 6th and Mrs J Foster of Horden on the 27th.

October brought another two birthdays the first being Mrs R Johnson of Silksworth on the 2nd and then Mrs Violet Mould of Tursdale on the 17th.

November brought no fewer than four birthdays, Mrs Ada Middleton of Sherburn Village on the 2nd followed by Mrs May Wheatman of Horden on the 8th. The next two residents, Mr Gordon Thompson of Hordon and Mary Halliday of Hetton share their birthday on the 26th.
The final birthday of this edition was celebrated by Mrs Mary Herbert of Consett on December 3rd.
Five residents have celebrated their 90th Birthday this Summer 2007.
May brought 3 birthdays, the first being Mr Charles McGowan of Coundon on May 4th followed by Mrs Mary Green of Stella on May 11th, and Mrs Freda Easton of Stanley, Crook on May 24th.

Then along came June with Mrs Lillian Lawson of Consett on the 26th.
The final birthday of this edition was celebrated by Mrs Dora Heskett of Silksworth on July 6th.

January brought two birthdays the first being Mrs Rose Dorrian of South Shields on January 13th followed by Mrs Ellen Prested of Gilesgate who both share the same day of January 21st.
February 15th was the birthday of Mrs Doreen Robson of Houghton-le-Spring.
March saw three birthdays Mr Rockett of Stanley on March 10th, followed by Mr John Moses of Horden on March 22nd and Mr John Stubbs of Peacehaven on March 23rd.

The final two in this edition were celebrated by Mrs Elsie Bowman of Shotton on April 14th and Mrs Lillian Ternent of South Shields on April 17th.

September brought two birthdays from Wheatley Hill, Mrs Elizabeth King on September 16th and Mrs Mabel Holdcroft on September 24th.

October and November followed suit, both with two birthdays each month - Mrs Vera Soulsby of Hetton le Hole on October 3rd, Mrs Ada Henderson of South Shields on October 6th, Mr William Cockayne of Deanbank on November 23rd and Mrs Kate Bell of Quebec on November 29th.

Wheatley Hill is in the spotlight again in December with two further birthdays - Mr Thomas Smyth on December 1st and Mrs Mary Cairns on December 4th.

The final three 90th birthdays of the year were celebrated by Mr John Ternent of South Shields on December 14th, Mrs Ethel Ferguson of Jarrow on December 20th and Mrs Gladis Brown of Easington on 29th December.

Congratulations to four residents who have celebrated their 90th birthday since the last edition of The Banner.
Mr John Harnett (pictured) of North Hylton Road, Sunderland reached his nonagenarian milestone on June 4th. John served with the Durham Light Infantry until he was demobbed in 1947. He started work in Castletown Colliery until he retired at the age of 63.
On June 28th, Mrs Annie Patterson of Eshwood View, Ushaw Moor followed suit.
July brought two 90th birthdays in the same family: Mr John Parker on July 14th and his wife, Mrs Elizabeth Parker on July 25th, both of Cann Street, Easington.
