Archived list of 90th Birthdays
THREE residents have celebrated their 90th Birthday since the last edition of The Banner.
The first celebration of the year belonged to Mrs May Ayre, of Hetton-le-Hole on January 26th, followed by Mrs Lillian Allen of Marley Hill on the 19th February.
March brought the final birthday of this edition, Mrs Rhoda Smith of South Shields on the 15th.

Eleven residents have celebrated their 90th Birthday since the least edition of The Banner.

August brought two birthdays, the first being Mrs Thomasina McCluskey of South Shields on August 17th followed by Mrs Ethel Millward of Horden on August 28th.

Along came September with a further two with Mr Thomas Raine of Chester-le-Street on the 6th and Mrs J Foster of Horden on the 27th.

October brought another two birthdays the first being Mrs R Johnson of Silksworth on the 2nd and then Mrs Violet Mould of Tursdale on the 17th.

November brought no fewer than four birthdays, Mrs Ada Middleton of Sherburn Village on the 2nd followed by Mrs May Wheatman of Horden on the 8th. The next two residents, Mr Gordon Thompson of Hordon and Mary Halliday of Hetton share their birthday on the 26th.
The final birthday of this edition was celebrated by Mrs Mary Herbert of Consett on December 3rd.
Five residents have celebrated their 90th Birthday this Summer 2007.
May brought 3 birthdays, the first being Mr Charles McGowan of Coundon on May 4th followed by Mrs Mary Green of Stella on May 11th, and Mrs Freda Easton of Stanley, Crook on May 24th.

Then along came June with Mrs Lillian Lawson of Consett on the 26th.
The final birthday of this edition was celebrated by Mrs Dora Heskett of Silksworth on July 6th.

No fewer than 9 residents have celebrated their 90th Birthday recently.
January brought two birthdays the first being Mrs Rose Dorrian of South Shields on January 13th followed by Mrs Ellen Prested of Gilesgate who both share the same day of January 21st.
February 15th was the birthday of Mrs Doreen Robson of Houghton-le-Spring.
March saw three birthdays Mr Rockett of Stanley on March 10th, followed by Mr John Moses of Horden on March 22nd and Mr John Stubbs of Peacehaven on March 23rd.

The final two in this edition were celebrated by Mrs Elsie Bowman of Shotton on April 14th and Mrs Lillian Ternent of South Shields on April 17th.

No fewer than twelve residents have celebrated their 90th birthday during the final months of 2006.
September brought two birthdays from Wheatley Hill, Mrs Elizabeth King on September 16th and Mrs Mabel Holdcroft on September 24th.

October and November followed suit, both with two birthdays each month - Mrs Vera Soulsby of Hetton le Hole on October 3rd, Mrs Ada Henderson of South Shields on October 6th, Mr William Cockayne of Deanbank on November 23rd and Mrs Kate Bell of Quebec on November 29th.

Wheatley Hill is in the spotlight again in December with two further birthdays - Mr Thomas Smyth on December 1st and Mrs Mary Cairns on December 4th.

The final three 90th birthdays of the year were celebrated by Mr John Ternent of South Shields on December 14th, Mrs Ethel Ferguson of Jarrow on December 20th and Mrs Gladis Brown of Easington on 29th December.

Congratulations to four residents who have celebrated their 90th birthday since the last edition of The Banner.
Mr John Harnett (pictured) of North Hylton Road, Sunderland reached his nonagenarian milestone on June 4th. John served with the Durham Light Infantry until he was demobbed in 1947. He started work in Castletown Colliery until he retired at the age of 63.
On June 28th, Mrs Annie Patterson of Eshwood View, Ushaw Moor followed suit.
July brought two 90th birthdays in the same family: Mr John Parker on July 14th and his wife, Mrs Elizabeth Parker on July 25th, both of Cann Street, Easington.
