Objectives
The Rules (2) define the objects as:
To provide and maintain services and facilities for needy, aged, infirm or disabled persons, with a preference for those formerly employed in or about the coal mines in the County of Durham as constituted on 31 March 1974, and their dependants.
For that purpose to provide and maintain:
- Bungalows and sheltered homes (Almshouses), for such persons who (except in the case of the Original Beneficiaries or in other special cases to be approved by the Trustees) are over the age of 50 at the time of appointment;
- Residential homes in which additional care may be provided;
- Leasehold accommodation specially adapted for aged, inform or disabled persons;
- Gardens, common rooms, workshops, garages and other ancillary facilities for the benefit of residents
To manage or provide advice or assistance in the establishment or management of housing schemes provided or to be provided by other charities.
